The News we has gathered that, there was wild jubilation by the Chiefs, elders and
the people in the Asuofua- Nketia in the Atwima Nwabiagya district in the
Ashanti region, when the Chief of the area officially cut the tape to commission
an ultra- modern toilet facility.
The 28 seater
Water-closet estimated at Ghc 140,000 or 1.4 billion old cedis was initiated
and financed by the Chiefs and elders with the support from the district
Assembly, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Atwima Nwabiagya North, hon.Benito
Owusu-Bio, the Assembly Member of the area who doubles as the Presiding Member
(PM) of the Assembly as well as the citizens of the area especially the Leader
of True Faith Church-Ghana etc.
The Gyaasihene
for Nketia Community who is also a retired Senior Police officer who was very
instrumental and major contributor explained the jubilation of the community
after the commission of the modern place of convinces. He said before the
construction of the current facility the whole community numbering thousands
had to queue at a 6 seater Manhole which was built on Build Operate and
Transfer (BOT) basis and transferred to the community in 2014 when the state of
the facility was nothing to write home about coupled with the bad odour.
The
Gyasihene,Nana Kwaku -Duah who spoke on behalf of Nana Nketia -Ku-Poku
therefore called for a culture of maintenance by all and sundry to help keep
the facility for the young generation too.
The Gyasihene
who was very grateful to Nketiahene for his usual support when the vision for
the facility was born announced that, a special place has been reserved for the
aged and urged the youth to accord the elderly with the needed respect in that
direction.
He warned that any
one who breached the rules of no smoking pasted in both male and female toilets
would be made to face the Unit committee for discipline.
He indicated
that, when the community decided to ban invoking curses in the area with a fine
of Ghc 400 and above, it has drastically reduced that acts in the area.
Nana Kwaku Duah
particularly commended hon.Ohemeng Prempeh the PM for the Nwabiagya district
Assembly as well as the Assembly man for the community for his support towards
the project as well as Apostle John Owusu-Aciaw , the current leader if True
Faith Church-Ghana and his Church for their support towards the project .The
Gyaasihene who described the Apostle as his mentor showered praises on him for
the good behaviour and numerous support the community has enjoyed and continue
to enjoy from the Church.
