The Convention Peoples Party
(CPP) Parliamentary Candidate for Tafo-Pankrono constituency in the Kumasi
Metropolis, Mr.Issah Abdul Salem has predicted that, he will unseat Dr.Anthony
Akoto Osei, the incumbent New Patriotic Party(MP) in the 7th
December, 2016 general elections.
According to him, he is in the
race to win hence he wouldn’t waste his time and resources for the filing fee,
T-shirt, posters among others and called on the electorates to vote massively
for him as well as the CPP flagbearer, Lawyer Ivor Greenstreet to form the next
Government.
Mr.Salem who is also the Ashanti
Regional Secretary for the CPP made the prediction at Garden City radio in
Kumasi,a subsidiary of Ghana Broadcasting Cooperation (GBC) during it’s
newspaper review segment hosted by Emmanuel Assel.
He was very confident that,CPP
will form the next Government because the grounds were very fertile for them
.He therefore urged Ghanaians to vote massively for CPP after trying both NDC
and NPP under the 4th Republic
On the President Mahama's
decision to grant the Montie 3 pardon, the Ashanti CPP Regional Secretary who
doubles as 2016 Tafo Pankrono Parliamentary candidate, he stated emphatically
that, President Mahama has committed no sin.
According to him, from
independence to date successive Presidents have granted various pardons to
people some of whom were Hardened criminals
“I know someone in Kumasi who was
sentenced to death and after spending 10 years in jail Former President John
Agyekum Kufour granted him pardon. So there is nothing wrong if a President
should grant somebody pardon even though, they don’t want President to release
the Montie 3 but for the fact that Supreme Court jailed the Montie 3 has
demonstrated to them and those who think and talk loosely now know that, they
are not above the law”. Adding that the decision by President Mahama to pardon
the guys should not be politicized
because it can happen to anyone. It would be recalled that, President John
Dramani Mahama remitted the four months prison sentence handed to the Montie FM
host, and two panelists who were convicted of contempt by the Supreme Court and
jailed. This was after a petition signed by top government officials and NDC functionaries,
was presented to the President asking him to pardon the three, who are
affiliated to the ruling NDC. The three are: Alistair Nelson, Godwin Ako Gunn
and Salifu Maase, alias Mugabe they had been sentenced to four months in jail
and paid a fine of Ghc 10,000 each, but have now been granted their freedom
three months early.
He was with the hope that, the 3
must have learned a lesson and reform not ever use their medium to threaten
people or insult others in the name of politics.
