The independent parliamentary candidate for the Nhyiaeso constituency in Kumasi metropolis, Lawyer Sam Osei David has said that, Ghana’s Parliament is in urgent need of Independent parliamentary Members of Parliament (MPs) who will consult the Chiefs and relevant stakeholders in the course of their duties.
He has therefore
called on Ghanaians especially the electorates to discard that notion of voting
in political party lines which has resulted in a situation where most MPs take
their constituent for granted because they have assumed once a particular
constituency or seat is their stronghold even if they don’t perform the people
would vote for them.
Mr.Sam Osei
David said this on Abusau 96.5 fm, a local based radio station in Kumasi during
a news bulletin, after picking his nomination papers at the Electoral
Commission (EC) to file for the Nhyiaeso constituency as independent candidate
in the 2016 elections. The self confident candidate said he will win the seat to
break that record of NPP always winning the seat which was created in 2004
under the NPP regime. He therefore urged the electorates in the area to vote for
him massively as their next MP.
That any candidate
who claims that, Nhyiaeso constituency is a forgone conclusion is insulting the
intelligence of the chiefs and people of the area but he is very optimistic of
emerging a winner.
Mr.Sam Osei David said he was not worried about the Ghc
10,000 filling fees set by the EC because he will emerge victorious for the
Commission to refund his money for him
He also appealed
to Ghanaian electorates across the country to vote for any person contesting as
independent parliamentary candidate because many Ghanaians were fed up with the
old order and there was the need to get more of them (independent candidates
into parliament.
