Ghanaians across
the country, especially the youth have been advised to shun any political party
or politicians who would attempt to use them to chase trouble before, during
and after this year’s general elections slated for 7th December, 2016.
They should
rather help in the promotion of peace and unity in all their endeavours because
Ghanaians are one people with a common destiny and a common goal for developing
the country irrespective of one’s political, religious or ethnic background.
Hon.Samuel
Sarpong , who gave the advice in an interview with the Trust newspaper before
the kick-off for the Eid Adah holiday gala among the various communities
football teams(wards) held at Police Dapot,Pataai, reminded Ghanaians the need
for peaceful co-existence.
The former
Ashanti Regional Minister who doubles as the 2016 Nhyiaeso National Democratic
Congress (NDC) Parliaments candidate said the purpose for the gala, forms part
of his efforts of promoting peace and unity among the people of the constituency
especially with few weeks to the general elections.
The former
Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), who is currently the Managing
Director for the State Housing Company Ltd, flanked by the Nhyiaeso NDC
Communications Officer, Mr.Atoya Tolbert among other executives promised that
when elected as the next MP for the constituency, he will be a father for
all.”Let me tell you that gone are the days when some people say that a
particular constituency or region was their strongholds because the modern day
electorates vote based on the candidates qualities, their capability among
other factors not just voting on political party lines.
He therefore
challenged his fun club members as the rank and file of the NDC in the area to
intensify their campaign especially the house to House campaign to enable him
and President Mahama win the Nhyiaeso seat.
“We need not to
fight any one but let’s use this Samuel Saprong's fun club to promote peace and
unity because that is the intention of forming the club and also to get more
people in campaign to help NDC retain power.
He was very
confident of winning the Nhyiaeso seat for the party and called on the rank and
file of the party to ensure that the elections are held devoid of violence.
Hon.Sarpong also
presented a set of jerseys and football to each of the teams made up of
Santaai, Patasi, Fakyenebra,Sokoban, Atasomaso,South,Dakodwom,Aprema,Adiebra
etc.
The Santasi Ward
emerged the overall winners of the gala and went home with a trophy and a brand
new football among other items. The second and third winners also received a deserving awards.
