Bawumia said Ghana's Growth under Mahama Agric has slumped.

At a a lecture on the true state of the economy, he said manufacturing growth has declined from 3.7% in 2008 to 2.2% in 2015.

He added that "The Ghanaian experience is exactly the opposite of what fiscal consolidation is supposed to achieve"

He said "In the last 7 years, Ghana's total debt ballooned to Ghc100 billion in 2015."

Dr. Bawumia said NPP taxes and loans amounted GH¢20 billion in contrast over the last eight years amount to GH¢248 billion under the NDC.
The Mills-Mahama government have the nominal resources the NPP had but have made less impacted on the economy.
He noted that some 66% of Ghana’s debt, GH¢69 billion of it, has been accumulated under the presidency of John Dramani Mahama.
The lecture was chaired by former President John Agyekum Kufuor under the theme “The State of the Ghana Economy – A Foundation of Concrete or Straw.”

The Vice Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), says one of the reasons why Ghana's agricultural growth has declined is the low budgetary allocation to the sector under President John Mahama.

According to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, since 2009, the budgetary allocated to the Agriculture Ministry has been reducing.
“With twelve times less resources, the NPP increased GDP per capita by some four times more than the NDC... Ghana’s problem is not about resources. Our problem is the efficient and honest management of our resources,” he said.
“Agriculture growth declined from 7.4% in 2008 to 2.4% by 2015" adding that “Agricultural growth has been on the decline since 2013 under President Mahama.”
