IT seems all is still not well with the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ashanti region even when the Party has set-up its regional Campaign team for the forthcoming general elections slated for 7th December,2016.
A leading member
of the NDC based at Abuakwa Zongo in the Atwima Nwabiagya south constituency
has accused the immediate past Ashanti regional Minister who is currently a
Minister of State at the Office of the Presidency, hon.Peter Anarfi-Mensah for
allegedly bribing him with an amount One thousand four hundred Ghana cedis (GHC
1,400) to stop lambasting the Government led by President, John Dramani Mahama.
According to the
NDC activist, Issifu,President Mahama led administration has neglected the
zongo communities across the country especially the Abuakwa zongo hence the
youth in the zongo communities have no job to do. He asked the host of Nhyira
Fm, a local based radio station which part of the multi-media group, Kofi
Asante what legacy President Mahama who comes from the north and enjoyed the
free education policy initiated by his predecessors was leaving after the
December polls?
That former
President Kufour’s regime paid the Teacher and Nurses trainees allowance but
when President Mahama took power ,he has cancelled it and after schooling these
graduates have no jobs to do and have become burdening to their parents and guardians
who sponsored them.
He predicted
that, President Mahama will lose the forthcoming general elections because he
has disappointed the people of the zongo communities as well as the entire
country and should not be voted again into power.
When the host decided
to push him to the wall that, he went to some leading members of NDC for money
but since they didn’t give it to him that is why he was making noise or
accusing the government, he, retorted that “ I am not looking for money or
seeking my personal interest you come to Abuakwa zongo and go to other zongo communities,
you see that many of the youth have no jobs to do and this what I am
complaining. Let me tell you that, is rather the NDC leaders who have decided
to bribe me to keep quiet but they wouldn’t succeed.
When asked by the
host, Kofi Asante to mention those NDC leadership who have been chasing him
with bribe, he mentioned the former Ashanti regional Minister, Hon.Peter
Anarfi-Mensah who he said gave him Ghc 1,400 and assured him of creating job opportunity
for the youth of Abuakwa zongo in the ongoing Kumasi Central Market
redevelopment project but was sacked few days after that. That Mr.Yao Obimpeh,
the Ashanti regional Chairman has also tried several times to silence him with
bribe to no avail”, he alleged.
Meanwhile, the
deputy regional organizer of the Party, Mr.Isham testified about the
credibility of the Abuakwa youth activist whom he said he had met for
discussion and realize that, he was seeking the interest of his people not for his
personal interest.
Interestingly,
that argument by the deputy regional organizer shot down the attempt by
Mr.Yakubu Tony Aidoo, the Asawase constituency communications officer who phoned
into the programme to accuse the Abuakwa zonogo youth activist for attempting
to blackmail the government because of his stomach or personal interest.
