"The New
Patriotic Party (NPP) should by now know that they have lost quite a following
in the region because the people here now have a credible alternative which is
the Progressive Peoples Party (PPP) unlike in times past where there was none
except the NDC”.
Mr. Kofi Afrifa
Debrah, the Nyiaeso 2016 Parliamentary candidate for NPP who made the assertion
in an interview with the media, pointed out that the PPP has been the most
attractive political party going into this year’s elections as many people have
‘awakened’ to the realities of the Ghanaian system and realized that it is the
PPP on whom they could place their hopes for proper administration of the
country. Mr. Debrah has warned the New Patriotic Party (NPP) that, they should
not bang all their hopes on votes from the Ashanti region as the PPP would
spring a huge surprise this year.
The PPP
Parliamentary for Nhyiaeso constituency was asked to comment on the NPP Acting
National Chairman,Mr.Freddy Blay’s
remarks that, NPP would win 90 percent of valid votes cast in Ashanti
region in the upcoming General elections.
”Mr.Freddie Blay must have been joking or dreaming to say that”.As to why he said that, the PPP Parliamentary aspirant who has caused a lot of discomfort for the other aspirants in the Nhyiaeso constituency through his well planned and thought provoking campaign said, the NPP Acting Chairman would not have made that comment to journalists if he really knew the situation on the grounds in the region.Whenever Ghanaians compare the alternatives they have to the poor governance of the NDC government he said, they are disappointed at the lack of true leadership in the NPP whom they thought could salvage them from this government.

“I have
countless number of members of NPP and NDC in my constituency now rooting for
me and the PPP, assuring me of their votes come December. It is not a matter of
them deceiving me because I cannot list the amount of negatives about their
parties that they told me. Just that I am unable to share because am not a
dirty politician. So if Freddie Blay and his cohorts would like to tickle
themselves and laugh, it is up to them. When the elections results are declared
after December elections, he will realize they have been living in a certain
paradise different from where we are”.
