The St .Anthony Catholic youth in collaboration with Old Tafo youth Association have called on both Asantes and the various Zongo communities or northerners to preach peace after the riot that ensued between the two parties recently leading to the destruction of properties and other sustaining injuries.
They have been reminded that, the need for
them to co-exist peacefully than ever before in all their endeavour and the run-up to this year’s
general elections devoid of ethnic, religious and tribal sentiments cannot be
overemphasized. Mr. Winfred Obeng Yeboah, the President for both Associations,
told the media after a peace walk dubbed “No- violence in Tafo Community Again
peace walk”.
The peace walk
sent a clear message to the various religious leaders, Chiefs, youth, political
party leaders, and other opinion leaders within Tafo in the Kumasi Metropolis
that, the youth are determined to reject any form of violence. The youth in one
accord walked through the principal streets of the area demonstrating that, the
Old Tafo youth are ready to prove to the whole world that they are not violent
people. And the youth would not also do anything to tarnish the image of their
ancestors “renowned Old Tafo Community” they fought for it. Mr. Yeboah urged
the youth across the country, especially those in the various zongo communities
not to allow themselves to be manipulated by selfish politicians.
