SUPPORT PRIVATE NURSING COLLEGES TO IMPROVE HEALTH CARE DELIVERY-GOVT.URGED

Image result for Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the school, Dr Samuel K. OseiThe Government has been urged to help private nursing colleges to improve health care delivery in the country since the Government’s facilities alone cannot do the job.
Speaking at the 3rd graduation and matriculation ceremony of DOF collage of health in Kumasi, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the school, Dr Samuel K. Osei explained that, there are a lots of challenges that are facing private health sector which government and Ministry of health should take into consideration by employing their students after completion of the school and also provide them with both teaching, learning and practical materials.
Dr Osei added that, it is very sad that, government health sector refuses to employ students who have completed private nursing training apart from private hospitals which affect both the school and the students.

COMPUTER PLACEMENT

“Our understanding to the computer placement was that, it will give equal opportunities to every child or BECE candidate to be in any of the “best” schools in Ghana. And also, do away with the corruption that existed in admission of new students by some heads of schools.

Ghanaians were made to understand that the computer placements system will be flawless and will save parents from the pain of moving from place to place, seeking admission for their wards, and save them from being exploited by some corrupt headmasters and middle men.

WHAT PEOPLE DON’T KNOW ABOUT COMPUTERS

What people don’t know about computer is that, computers are operated by people both good and bad. Information do not get into the computer by themselves and any information that the operator shall feed it with, that is what is will give out. So never think that the computer operates itself. It only saves time and save files as well.

HAS THE COMPUTER PLACEMENT HELPED?

To me the computer placement system has failed to do things right. I have taken time to go round talking to many BECE candidates whose results have just been released .Could you believe that up to this time that many are about to go to school, many children do not know the school they are going. While others are yet to receive their admission letters. How can a computer place a girl to boy schools and a boy to a girl’s school? Is this the computer school placement?

WHAT IS THE NEED OF CHOOSING SCHOOLS

So far as I know, every candidate was given school selection form to choose from. Parents, together with their wards were given the opportunity to make their own choices. Every candidate was given the opportunity to choose four schools, but how come that many of these children have still not been placed? And many of those who have been placed have been placed in schools they did not choose at all?

If one can be placed in a school he or she did not choose, then what was the need for the opportunity to choose?

FRUSTRATIONS FOR THE BECE CANDIDATE

Many have not considered the psychological trauma that some of these children who have not yet been placed by the computer to their schools of choice, are going through. Even though they have qualified to be there.

As I was going round, I saw many children still browsing to know where they have been placed. At the same time, I saw those who have received their placement and admission letters also hugging one another with smiles of joy, whiles the others looked on frustrated. Let us not destroy the confidence of our children who are the future leaders of our nation.

REVIEW THE COMPUTER PLACEMENT SYSTEM

I believe that those who initiated the computer placement system meant good for the children. But today wrong and corrupt people are sitting behind the computers, and are giving it a bad name.

I am appealing to the Ghana Education Service and the ministry of education to review the system. Some people have turned the placement system as their cocoa season. How can people feed the computer with the name of a male, and place him in a girls school, and a girl, in a boys school?
It is time the powers that be look at this issue very well, and stop frustrating parents and the children.
