The Ashanti Regional Director, Electoral Commission, Mr Serebour Keokuk has admonished the media to be circumspect in their reportage to ensure violence free ahead of December 7th general elections.
He said, it is time media desisted from
the quick declaration of election results, disseminating false or misleading
information before the election management body (EMB) to avoid any chaos.
Mr Serebour Keokuk made the disclosure
at the capacity building on media reportage for the 2016 presidential and
parliamentary elections and highlights of C. I. 94 held EC conference Hamlin
Kumasi.
Addressing
the media, they should play vital role in the forthcoming elections by
contributing to legitimacy and acceptance of results to ensure that there is
transparency in the declaration of results. They should refrain from hate
speeches that can disturb the current peace in the country, rather be fair,
objective and verifiable especially "so called eye witness
reports"
