NPP WAS RIGHT THAT NDC WAS WAITING FOR, APUO’ BEFORE LAUNCHING MANIFESTO-KNUST LECTURER.

Dr.Peter Twumasi, a Senior lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Biochemistry Department has stated emphatically that, the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) leaderships have been vindicated by saying that the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration led by President Mahama was patiently waiting for NPP to launch its manifesto for the NDC to steal their ideas.

“I am surprised that the NDC Government can launch its campaign for the 2016 general elections without a manifesto even though, the National Organizer of the Party, Mr.Kofi Adams and other leading members of NDC had publicly indicated that their manifesto was ready. Do you remember that, President Mahama threw a challenge to his main challenger in this year's elections, Nana Akufo Addo that he was ready to debate him (Nana Addo) any day any time on every policies what has happened now? If the manifesto is ready show us a copy”, he challenged.
Dr.Twumasi was asked to comment on the decision by NDC to launch its 2016 campaign in the Central yesterday at Cape Coast in the Central region without a manifesto.
He made the observation at Garden City radio in Kumasi; a subsidiary of Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) during a newspaper review segment hosted by Kwame Obeng Sarkodie aka Marcus the Ultimate.
He recalled that in 2012, NDC stole NPP's campaign message of free Senior High Education and transforming Ghana and changing lives. And this year too, with few days to 7th December polls, President Mahama administration after cancelling Teachers and Nursing trainees allowances and making u-turn to steal Nana Akufo Addo and his running mate's promise of restoring the teachers and nurses trainees allowances.
Dr.Twumasi encouraged NPP to come out with their manifesto and let NDC steal their ideas again, luckily majority of Ghanaians will know a political party which is full of good ideas or generators of good programmes and policies for the nation. On the story that, President Mahama has sent Montie 3 petition to Council of State for advice, the KNUST lecturer said the issue was totally waste of time because in the first place, the Ministers of State shouldn’t have signed the petition to free the Montie 3.According to him, weighing the gravity of their threat, the Supreme Court Judges were Fair and lenient.”Like Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Doe Adjaho, advised to Parliamentarians that they should not create any problem with another arm of Government in reaction to Hon.Oti Bless’ ,the Deputy Local Government and Rural Development (MLRD) appointee attacked on the Chief Justice.“ I was expecting President Mahama to caution or advice his appointees against the needless attacks on Supreme Court Judges after the 4 months jail term given to the Montie 3.The Senior lecturer said Parliament needs more experts or specialists in strategic area to help make their work easy and simple; he is therefore calling on electorates to choose competent people in the various constituencies as well as Presidential candidate to help move the country forward. Dr. Peter Twumasi is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology, College of Science.  As a Biochemist and Biotechnologist, he has been involved in several biochemical and molecular biology research projects in the areas of programmed cell death (or apoptosis), DNA fingerprinting, microbial and plant genetic diversity studies, and PCR-based molecular diagnosis of infectious diseases (Hepatitis B Virus, HIV, bacterial and fungal diseases).Currently, his research lab focuses on heavy metallic assessment of food crops grown at Galamsey mining areas and refuse dumpsites in Ghana, DNA fingerprinting for forensic purposes, screening of food samples for GM food contamination, PCR-based molecular diagnosis of viral and bacterial infections and genetic analysis of syndromic and non-sydromic human orofacial clefts in the African population.
Research Activities

Whilst in the Wageningen University, he developed an Apoptotic Model in Zinnia Plant Cell Culture System which is today considered the best model for apoptotic and programmed cell death studies worldwide in animals and plants alike. Other important areas of his research works include molecular characterization of human cleft palate and pica practice in humans, development of plant-based heavy metallic detoxification drugs, and assessment of heavy metals in urban-grown vegetables, tissue culture for varietal development in cassava, groundnuts and Hibiscus.Dr. Twumasi has contributed greatly to Biotechnology Education in Ghana especially in the area of GM Foods where he gives talks to schools, farmers and other stakeholders under various projects sponsored by the Government of Ghana and the Embassy of the United States of America.
