Ghanaians
especially the rank and file of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has been urged to
reject all those calling themselves as Independent candidates, especially in
the Ashanti region in the forthcoming general elections slated for 7th
December, 2016 because they are National Democratic Congress (NDC) sponsored
candidates.
The former
Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, Mr.Robert Yaw Amankwah made the
allegation at the Nhyiaeso Constituency 2016 campaign launch held at Patasi in
Kumasi.
According to
him, NPP believes in internal democracy hence contest are opened for interested
Persons who wish to contest as Parliamentary candidates on the ticket of the
Party and couldn’t understand why some refuse to offer themselves for the
contest whiles others after losing in the primaries insist to go independent.
“I am telling
you that, when they come to you that they are NPP sympathizers or supporters
reject them because they are all NDC sponsored candidates”, he alleged.
The former
Ashanti regional Chairman of NPP who was not happy about the use of media
houses to settle their grievances instead of the laid down grievances procedures
in the party ,cautioned the rank and file of the Party, especially the youth to
desist from going to radio stations in their attempt to settle any grievances.
Mr.Robert
Amankwah reminded the rank and file of the Party that, their various campaign
rallies among others funfairs would be a waste if they fail to embark on
aggressive house to house campaign to reach to the masses after the official
campaign launch. He therefore charged the rank and file of the party to start
aggressive house to house to spread the good policies and programmes of Nana
Akufo Addo to enable the party recapture power to improve the wellbeing of the
economy.
On his part,
Mr.Hackman Owusu Agyemang, a former Minister of Water resources, Works and
Housing under former President J.K.Akufo’s administration entreated the
supporters of the NPP to be extra vigilant especially on the day of the
elections since the referee of the election, Electoral Commission’s
Chairpersons actions and inactions have indicated that, she can’t be trusted to
be fair.
The veteran
politician said NPP needs to win by 20 percent margin between NDC to ensure a
convincing victory.”We (NPP) need to embark on serious campaign from now and
more focus should be put on one on one or house to house campaign to help maximize
votes for both Parliamentary and Presidential candidates”.
He appealed to
the people of Nhyiaeso to vote massively for both Kennedy Kwasi Kankam ,2016
Parliamentary candidate who he described as a committed party man as well as
Nana Akufo Addo to win at least 90 percent of the votes.
