With barely few
months to the 2016 general elections slated for 7th December,
Mr.Hayford Bempah who has declared his intention to contest Suame seat as
Independent candidate, has dropped a bombshell that, the incumbent NPP Member
of Parliament (MP) who doubles as Minority leader in Parliament, Hon.Osei Kyei
Mensah-Bonsu is NDC Man and is working for President Mahama in the constituency
against his own Presidential candidate, Nana Akufo Addo.
Mr.Bempah in an interview with the Trust Newspaper
accused the minority leader as a political character planted by NDC top
executives to thwart the chances of Nana Addo and NPP in this year's election.
According to
him, the minority leader has been a great disappointment to the people of Suame
and the NPP. "He is not in for NPP or the constituency but his own
interest", he alleged.
Saying “If
Hon.Kyei Mensah Bonsu claims he is an ardent member of NPP, why is it that with
the few months to election, he has failed to project the posters of Nana Addo
and the party colours in the constituency?
In an earlier
interview with some media houses, the independent candidate described the
Minority leader as “water which takes the shape of its container at a freezing
point of temperature. Hon.Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu has stayed in parliament for a
longer period, has been a friend to most of NDC and has taken their form"
he underscored.
The Heritage
Newspaper reported last week that,”Safety may escape the independent
parliamentary candidate for Suame constituency, Mr. Hayford Bempah and his
campaign manager Bismark Gyimah if security measures are not expedited as a
matter of urgency consequent to recent series of threats they are receiving
from anonymous sources.
The campaign
manager for the independent has disclosed to have this month 10th August 2016
at about 10:00pm discovered a warning notice pasted on his door after returning
home which read;"hey Bismark you and Hayford should step down or
else...".
Bimark Gyamfi
stressed that similar contract killer messages were sent to him on many
occasions during 2012 campaign season when Mr. Hayford Bempah contested the
incumbent Hon Kyei Mensah Bonsu who again holds the capacity as the minority
leader of parliament.
The comeback of
the threat messages this year he noted is a machination of some political folks
who think he and the independent candidate have been employed by the executives
of NDC to thwart the electoral fortunes of the popular opposition party NPP in
the constituency.
But Mr.Bempah
aka No more Walls disclosed that he received a similar threat through a phone
call last Friday 19th August 2016 at
about 5 :00pm from an anonymous source.
During the phone
conversation Mr. Hayford Bempah alerted
that he was harshly challenged by the caller among other threat messages to
step down.
The independent
candidate who questioned the caller as to why he should step down received a
reply from the other end on the phone that he Hayford Bempah is destructing the
attention of the people of Suame constituency. Mr. Hayford Bempah in a
challenge statement said no amount of callous moves by his opponents can stop
him since he is determined to unseat the minority leader and take over as a
reliable MP for suame.
Mr. Hayford
Bempah who is seen by many as a political messiah for the constituency has
promised to salvage from the many challenges they are facing.
