Ghanaians across the country have been urged to
change their attitudes and behaviour and learn to be faithful in all their
dealings if the country was to develop.
“The need for Ghanaians especially, civil servants to desist from corrupt acts and serve the country wherever they found themselves faithful devoid of corruption cannot be over emphasized”.
“The need for Ghanaians especially, civil servants to desist from corrupt acts and serve the country wherever they found themselves faithful devoid of corruption cannot be over emphasized”.
The Chief
Executive Officer (CEO) of Kumah farms Complex, Mr.Martin Kwaku Kumah who gave
the advice in an exclusive interview at his farm at Domeabra near Kumasi,
stated emphatically that civil servants are the most corrupt in the country than the politicians but always
Ghanaians are quick to blame the politicians in the country.
Explaining that,
it is the civil servants who teach the
few politicians who are elected as Members of Parliament (MPs),appointed as
Ministers or deputy Ministers, Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives
to be corrupt.
According to
him, the 275 MPs and about 80 Ministers and Deputy Ministers as well as the 216
DCEs cannot mismanage the country’s funds or steal it without the compromise of
civil servants.
“I know of a
civil servant who bought paint at an amount of Ghc 3,500 for the work on
Government buildings and requested that a receipt of GHC 8,000.00 rather be
issued to him and how do you blame this one on politician? I am saying that
without faithfulness on the part of all Ghanaians it will be very difficult for
any Government to develop the Ghanaian economy, so we all need to be
faithful and do the right thing at the
right time in all our endeavour”, he stressed.
He alleged also
that, it is the civil servants who teach the politicians how to loot the state
coffers. Asking how come that, almost all Ministers appointed to Ministry of
Sports especially have always faced problems with corruption issues from Mallam
Issah,Hon.Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka ,Hon.Afriyie Ankrah among others but these
civil servants who are in the system before the appointees(politicians) are
still working at the Ministry but the politicians have suffered for such corruption allegations!
