Ace Investigative Journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas says he will only probe the Electoral Commission if he finds out there is anything worth investigating at the Commission.

“As I speak now, I am an investigative journalist and when there is any subject worthy of investigation why not, I will investigate. When it is time to investigate anything I don’t mind what it is and we only have to make sure those issues are important. I am not saying I will investigate the EC or I will not investigate the EC.”

Speaking on a US-based Amansan radio, Anas said he will also take the public interest into consideration before investigating any institutions.

All I am saying is that if there is any issue that needs investigation and we have the capacity, we will. Just keep your fingers crossed. The good people of Ghana, we are all there and we are all witnesses and what we must all pray for is to have a very peaceful election and I think all of us must find peace within the frontiers of our democracy.”

Anas’ last investigative piece for the country showed some 22 lower court judges and 12 High Court judges captured on allegedly taking bribes to influence justice.

Afterwards, the Chief Justice set up a committee to investigate the matter. The committee subsequently presented its report to recommending that some of the judges are fired from their position.

Over 20 of the accused judges have been sacked from their post in connection with the corruption scandal.
