The Atwima Co-operative Credit Union headquarters at Esaso,has opened another branch at Barekuma all in the Atwima Nwabiagya district of the Ashanti region.
The newly
cooperative credit union with total shareholders numbering one thousand five hundred
(1,500) attended the colourful durbar and official inauguration of the branch.
Speaking to the
New Trust Newspaper, the Board Chairman of the Credit union, Nana Asare Bediako
said the credit union which was set up few years ago focus is to help farmers
and parents with financial difficulties to send their wards to school through
granting of loans.
He said the
Credit union is entirely different from Micro finance in the sense that both
board of directors and the shareholders have access and total control of the
union.
Nana Asare Bediako
who is also Atipimsafohene said part of its policies they organized meetings
every three months to render the financial status to its shareholders.
The Board
Chairman therefore encouraged all residents in the area to buy shares and make
savings with the Atwima Cooperative Credit Union in order to redeem them in
their financial difficulties time.
He was
optimistic that, with the support given to the Credit Union by the district, it
is hopefully that more branches would be opened to assist all Ghanaians.
