
12000 YOUTH GETTING TRAINING IN DIGITAL SATELLITE TV …LAWRENCE
As the nation is
currently in motion of migrating from analogue to digital technology in
conformity with the Geneva 2006 (GE06) agreement Ghana signed, establishing the
Digital Terrestrial Broadcasting Plan
in the bands 174-230 MHz and 470-862 MHz at the Regional Radio Communications Conference (RCC-06) in 2006 ,the Ministry of Employment & Labour Relations, National Vocational Training Institute( Institute of Business Studies) in collaboration with Cyberspace Training Institute and Overmars has begun in the training of Twelve Thousand Ghanaian youth in certificated digital satellite television installation, digital terrestrial television installation, integrated digital TV, repairs & maintenance.

Others include
assembling, IPTV,IT-HDVC & Telepresence installation, entrepreneurial
skills, and salesmanship and support services.
Speaking
exclusively to the New Trust Newspaper
at the ongoing super intensive certificate course at NVTI/IBS , Chirapatre in
Kumasi, the Chief Technology/Training Officer of Cyberspace Training Institute,
Mr.Lawrence Adoboe said their short term plan is to train 1,200 youth
especially by end of 31st March,2017.
That the medium
term plan is targeted at training 6,000 youth as well as the long term plan of
reaching 12,000.
He disclosed
that, apart from the above mentioned areas, plans were far advance to train
people, especially the unemployed youth in business venture cooperative of
5-7,electronic and electrical technicians, plumbers, estate developers, IT
technicians & software engineers, front desk secretaries/executive
managers.
Mr.Adoboe said
some of the courses lined up are; solar power installation, high definition
video conferencing among others.
The one month
super intensive training currently under way is being handled by experts drawn
from the Ministry of Employment & Labour Relations, NVTI/IBS, Cyberspace
Training Institute and Overmars.
The main aim of
the certificate course is geared towards reducing the unemployment rate in the
country, especially among the youth.
According
Mr.Adoboe, the course has been designed for the youth in the country;
especially the unemployed and those already in the Information Communication
(ICT) industry and potential ones who desire to sharpen their skills and
acquire a recognized certificate for employment. Other target group encouraged
to take opportunity of the certificate course are technically minded unemployed
individual, Junior and Senior School graduates, WAEC remedial students etc.
The training
schedule is from Monday-Friday and also available on weekends (Sandwich,
E-learning/distance education.
