Anyidoho tells Nana Addo-Calls your men to order

The Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Koku Anyidoho has appealed to the flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo- Addo to put to order all those within the NPP who had been making public utterances likely to disturb the peaceful conduct of this year’s elections.
He said while the leadership of the NDC would not allow any of its executives or members to make similar utterances to generate tension to the run-up of the elections, it was the responsibility of the NPP, especially Nana Addo to do likewise.


That, according to Mr Anyidoho would make it possible for the elections to be conducted peacefully to preserve and strengthen Ghana’s democratic credentials that had catapulted the country to be the beacon of Africa.

Mr Anyidoho made the appeal after the vetting of two parliamentary candidates for the Upper West Akyem Constituency at Koforidua.

They are Mr.Ohene Assifu Bekoe, District Chief Executive of Upper West Akyem and Mr. Kenney Francis Teye, the Presiding Member of the District Assembly.

Two others, Nana Ama Yeboah and Mr.Djanon Stephen James who picked forms to be vetted however withdrew from the race.

The vetting to be followed with a primary had become necessary due to the decision of the incumbent MP, Mr. Joseph Samuel Amankwanor who was duly elected in a previous primary to withdraw, giving personal reasons.

According to Mr Anydoho, the NDC was worried about the inability of Nana Akufo Addo who comes from the region to restrain his men from coming out with public statements that would mar the smooth conduct of the elections.

To buttress his case, Mr Anyidoho mentioned a recent inflammatory statement made by Mr. Kennedy Agyapong, an NPP MP against the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Mrs Charlotte Osei which to him must be condemned.

With regards to the NDC’s agenda 50/50 that is to gather half of the votes in the Eastern Region, a stronghold of the NPP, Mr Anyideho stated it was on course.

He however, appealed to the rank and file of the party in the region to work harder than before to make it possible for the NDC to achieve that goal.
