Two officials of the Electoral Commission have been dismissed for verifying the running mate of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) at his Walewale residence in Northern Region.

The duo, Yubi Ambrose an exhibition officer and Mumuni Latifa a verification officer allegedly acted on the others of a top EC officer in the district.


The officials were also alleged to have taken a GHC 10, 000 each bribe to breach the electoral laws.
Executives of the National Democratic Congress in the district disclosed the incident to the commission through a press conference on Friday, July 29.
Meanwhile, the Walewale constituency chairman for the NDC, Imore Abdul Constituency Communications Officer of the NDC Imoro Abdul Razak has disclosed that the two officers must be punished beyond just dismissing them.
"Our investigation has shown that a senior official at the District office instructed the two officers to send the Biometric Verification Device (BVD) to Dr Bawumia's house," he said.
